Upshur County Historical Society – Book Signing

Artist Charley Harper was born in Upshur County in 1922. He spent his childhood in French Creek and Buckhannon, learning to appreciate nature and country life. World War II and art school took him around the world, but his connections to West Virginia remained strong.

Michelle Houts has written the first biography of Charley Harper, renowned mid-century modern artist. While Count the Wings: The Life and Art of Charley Harper is written with the middle-grade reader in mind, it’s loaded with both facts and artifacts that will make it a must-read for historians, naturalists, and art enthusiasts alike.

An author meet-and-greet and book signing will take place from 1:00 – 4:00.
