Celebrate baseball season with children’s author Michelle Houts. Michelle new middle grade biography is called Kammie on First: Baseball’s Dottie Kamenshek and it tells the amazing story of a young Cincinnati, Ohio girl who left home at seventeen to play professional baseball. Dottie’s story may have been forgotten if not for the hit film A League of Their Own, a fictionalized account of the very real, very successful Rockford Peaches women’s baseball team. Some say Dottie Kamenshek inspired Geena Davis’s character Dottie Hinson. Come on out and decide for yourself!
Michelle’s other books for young readers, including Winterfost, The Beef Princess of Practical County, and The Practical County Drama Queen will also be available for sale and for signing.
See you at the ballpark, er, um, library!
