Event Details

Michelle Houts will visit the Carrabassett Valley on Thursday, October 10th. She’ll spend time with young readers and writers at Stratton School and Kingfield Elementary, and then speak to families at the Public Library at 4:30.

Houts’s books include the new SEA GLASS SUMMER, which takes place in Maine, and has been reviewed in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.  SILENT SWOOP, a nonfiction picture book, tells the story of Coal, a great horned owl rescued as an egg from a coal conveyor at a Midwest electric plant.  WHEN GRANDMA GATEWOOD TOOK A HIKE chronicles Emma Gatewood’s record-setting journey across the Appalachian Trail in 1955 and includes a photo of her appearance at Sugarloaf Mountain.  Hear about these stories and more! Books will be available for sale and signing by the author.
